Since 1989, Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) has distributed funds from a 1/10 of 1% sales and use tax to cultural facilities throughout the seven-county Denver, Colorado metropolitan area. The funds support cultural facilities whose primary purpose is to enlighten and entertain the public through the production, presentation, exhibition, advancement and preservation of art, music, theatre, dance, zoology, botany, natural history and cultural history.

Hello!

Hi, I’m Erica, SCFD’s new Program Assistant, and I will be taking over this lovely blog.  Yes I know I’ve got some pretty big shoes to fill, but thankfully I have been working closely Cassiope and the entire staff for almost a year, so I think I’m up to, and well prepared, for the challenge.  I have lived in Denver for going on ten years now and I must say this is a truly amazing city we live in and I am really excited to work so closely with so many different cultural organizations in this fine metropolitan area of ours. 

So what’s first?  We’ll the weekend… check out some really fun cultural events from SCFD organization this weekend!

Did you know…
That every 1% of every capitol project, undertaken by the city of Denver, goes towards public art?  Currently there is about 150 pieces of art in the cities collection- watch out Denver Art Museum!
