the official blog of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District

Since 1989, Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) has distributed funds from a 1/10 of 1% sales and use tax to cultural facilities throughout the seven-county Denver, Colorado metropolitan area. The funds support cultural facilities whose primary purpose is to enlighten and entertain the public through the production, presentation, exhibition, advancement and preservation of art, music, theatre, dance, zoology, botany, natural history and cultural history.

Summertime…and the livin’ is busy!

It’s not easy to sleep in these days with so much happening.  We think weekends are a “break” from busy work weeks, but really they’re time to get out with some of our amazing SCFD organizations.  Here’s a summary of some things happening this weekend:

  • Learn something (without paying for an MBA) at PHAMALy’s performance of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”.  Playing through August 7th at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
  • Head west to Central City for a special weekend of “Central City Days”, presented by the Central City Opera.
  • Head to the hills for the Evergreen Jazz Festival, cited by national columnist Bob Lynn as “the best jazz festival anywhere”.

Overwhelmed?  Me too.  Time to grab my calendar!
